An introduction

Hi everybody who's interested in my adventures as a teacher trainer in Nigeria. I'm working on a project that has been started by VSO and NYSC last year. I'm here to teach national volunteers how to teach.
Before I start telling about my experiences, I'll tell a little bit about myself and the project. I'm Ingrid de Wit from The Netherlands, VSO arranged a placement for me in Nassarawa State, Nigeria. I'm 32 years old and will be here for about 2 years started in october 2010.
The project I'm working for started in the beginning of 2010. A few short term VSO-volunteers started in little villages working with a small group of schools who accepted national volunteers as new teachers. National volunteers are young graduates that already finished their NYSC (this is a comprehensive voluntering duty that every graduate has to attend in Nigeria). The national volunteers were put in front af a class room without any teaching experience or training, only a 1 day workshop.
I'm here to arrange workshops and school visites so I can support them and train them.
Next time I'll write about my firts impressions.
